Delayed not Denied.

Have you ever been delayed? I think we all have been delayed at one time or another. A few years ago, I was returning home after spending a week at our corporate headquarters. Needless to say, I was very anxious to get home. We all boarded the airplane when the pilot made an announcement due to weather conditions at my home airport, our takeoff was delayed. Even though I arrived 4 hours late, my trip was delayed but my destination was not denied.

A while back, while I was sitting on the interstate in a traffic jam, without moving for 30 to 40 minutes. I looked across the road and the traffic were zipping by. I started to think how lucky and bless those going the opposite direction were. Sometimes… it seems others are getting blessed instead of myself.  Then I thought to myself, if I was going in that direction, I would never get to my destination. I was delayed but not denied and eventually made it to my destination.

I began to think about how God delays. God delays us for our own good. On a recent trip I was delay by traffic. It was only a few minutes. Then as I continued my travels, about 20 miles down the road, a terrible auto accident involving the car ahead of me and a semi-truck. If I wasn’t delayed, I would have been that car. I was delayed for my own good but wasn’t denied the completion of my travels.

It is not in our human nature to be delayed and or be patient. In today’s society, We want it and we want it now! This is a worldly behavior taught by our old friend Satan. God teaches patience, which sometimes is by delaying us.

I sure most of us has heard these phrases, “Everything in its own time” and “God’s timing is always perfect.” In Ecclesiastes 3:1 we find, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”. There is a season or time for everything. What we need to understand… It’s God’s timing.

We need to wait on God. In Psalms 27:14 says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” We are told to wait for the Lord. How many times have we prayed and prayed for something and nothing happened. Then after a short time, Satan convinces us that we are just wasting our time and to give up. Satan tells us it’s not God’s will. We need to remember; it took 50 years to have Roe vs Wade abortion laws overturn. Also, the Jewish people were enslaved by Egypt for 400 years before God answered their prayers.

Jesus told us in Matthew 21:22, “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” The only requirement is that you believe. Asking the easy part, believing you will receive what you prayed for is the hard part. For example, when we ask God for healing, for us or someone else, do you really believe God will heal? Yes, we know he can heal… but will he heal?  Jesus said believe and receive!

Final Point. God may delay but it doesn’t mean he denies us. We may not understand why… but when God delays there is a purpose behind it. Some years ago, I was praying the God would change a policy where I worked. I prayed for this change for 9 years and nothing. Then I started to believe and thanking God for answering my prayer. In the 10th year the policy was changed. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us, “Pray without ceasing.” God may delay but He does not deny. Keep praying and believing.

In closing let me ask you this, how are your prayers to God? Are you really praying and believing? Do you just go through the motions? Maybe you have never had a relationship with God… or maybe it’s time to renew your walk with the Lord. There’s no better time than the present to get right with God. Renewal and or Salvation is only a prayer away. It’s free, it’s easy and you don’t even need a credit card. Just ask God to Forgive and to come into your life.

Please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and arose from the grave. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” and in Romans 10:9 tells us, ”that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

Lamentations 3:25, “The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.”

May God Bless You!
