I’m a Good Person…

I’m a good person, so I’ll go to Heaven. God doesn’t send good people to hell. Somehow some believe that being a good person opens the gates of Heaven for you. Some churches believe you can work your way to heaven and still others believe that after you have died, you can be prayed into heaven.

How many times have you been to a funeral and heard people talking about the deceased. We hear things like… he/she was a very good person. He/she went to church every Sunday, gave to the Church and other charities, and even helped out with some of the programs at church. I’m sure we will meet again in Heaven.

During the eulogy, nothing was ever mentioned about this person’s love for God or about his relationship with God, but only about his good works. But my friend, let me tell you that good works alone will not get you into Heaven. Today, I want to take a look at Good Works versus how to get to Heaven.

Many of the world’s churches today believe you can get to Heaven by doing good works. Some Churches believe that by sacrificing your life in a terrorist act you earn your way to heaven. They consider this a good work. Still other churches are knocking on your door and handing out tracks. They believe that this is a way to earn a place in Heaven. There’s nothing you can do on this earth to earn your way to Heaven.

Romans 3:23 says,” for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Everyone is a sinner and have come short of Heaven. In Romans 6:23 we find, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Because we all have sinned, there is no way we can go to Heaven. But God in His mercy and grace may a way for each of us to get there. Over 2,000 years ago, God provided the ultimate sacrifice, His Son for our sins.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

The Bible tells us in John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Jesus tells us that He is the way to heaven. There is no other way to the Father which is in Heaven but by a relationship with His Son Jesus.

God son Jesus Christ, a man without any sin, bore our sins and was crucified and died on the cross for us. Remember, “The wages of sin is death,” and Jesus paid the full price of our sins. He died for us. God made a way for us to be forgiven and to live with Him in heaven forever. All we need to do is ask and believe in Christ. In 1 John 1:9 tells us “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If you are unsure about your relationship with God, I ask you to take a moment right now and confess your sins and ask Jesus into your life. This is the only way to get yourself into Heaven. If someone or a church is trying to lead you in a different direction… by working your way to Heaven…. run. Remember Christ died for you and now you have a loophole to get to Heaven through Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” Yes… it’s a free gift from God! You can’t work your way to heaven, only a relationship with God’s Son can get you there.

May God Bless You!
