Do you have a Heart Condition? We need to recognize the signs of a heart attack and then take action to stop it. Let’s look at some of the signs and symptoms of an impending heart attack in men and women.
1. Chest pain or discomfort
2. Shortness of breath
3. Pain or discomfort in the jaw, neck, back, arm, or shoulder
4. Feeling nauseous, light-headed, or unusually tired.
If you are having any of these symptoms, please see your doctor ASAP to discuss them.
The CDC tells us about 610,000 people die of heart disease in the United States every year–that’s 1 in every 4 deaths. And every year about 735,000 Americans have a heart attack! Again, a reminder to talk to your doctor.
But Today I want to look at your Spiritual Heart. Do you have a Spiritual Heart Condition? Spiritual heart, just like your physical Heart, often shows no symptoms. Let’s take a look at the symptoms of a spiritual heart condition.
First… Let’s look at Luke 12:34, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” What are you working for? Are you working for self or God? If you are building up treasures on earth and not in Heaven… this could mean that you might have a heart condition!
Second… Where is your heart? What are your thoughts? What do you talk about? In Matthew 15:19 says, “But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders.” Have you ever listened to yourself speak. The next time you are around your friends, listen to what is being said and especially what you are saying. If Christ was part of the group, would you speak differently? If so, you might have a heart condition.
Third… Do you find it hard to pray, read your Bible, to tithe, to give your time, or to go to church etc. You may need to have your heart checked. In Matthew 15:8 Jesus said, “This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me.” Are you giving the Lord lip service… Just going through the motions to look religious to others. Your heart is really not in it. Then you might have a heart condition.
Final Point… In Luke 21:34-36 we find a warning, “Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap; for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” In other words, take care that your hearts will not be weighted down or filled with the things in this world. But to stay alert at all times. Satan is very good at what he does. We need to take care not to be deceived by him. The way to do that is to pray for strength. This verse ends with the words, standing before the Lord. Every one of us will face death and then stand before the Lord for judgement. We need to prepare NOW. Tomorrow may be to late.
So, how’s your heart? Do you have a Spiritual Heart Condition? Do you need to be seen by the Doctor? Here’s the good news… The Doctor is in, and you don’t have to have an appointment. This Doctor is the greatest physician there’s ever been. His name is Jesus. We all have a direct line to Him. All we need to do is pray! If you find yourself needing the Doctor for your heart condition… Why not right now, take a few minutes and ask Jesus to fix your heart condition.
Please… if you don’t know Christ or have fallen away, please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose again. Tell God you are sorry for your sins and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
I pray that God will truly guide, lead and Bless you. Bob
