Magnificent Promises

This week I want to share an inspiring true story of Love and Faith for both her God and her son.  I hope you enjoy.

Exactly 2 years ago today, I received one of the worst phone calls that a mother could receive that my son was in a horrible car accident.
As I stood over his bed in the ER, the doctor told me that he believed my son was brain dead. He had multiple fractures, bleeds and swelling to his brain and he was not responding to anything. In my mind I was imagining the horrifying aspect of planning his funeral. Everyone around me was moving in slow motion. Nothing would ever be okay again.

The worst part of it all was in that moment as I was seeing his body lay on that hospital bed with blood draining from both ears I realized that I had failed as a parent. I didn’t know what his his relationship was with Christ or what his salvation would be. Would I ever see him again? Was he saved? Was this it? Would he go to heaven? No, no, no!

You see, I had let everything else in life be more important than eternity. How could I have been so foolish? The Bible says I am responsible for my child’s salvation and yet I made work, school and entertainment more important than the one thing that truly matters the most – eternity! I thought we had so much time! But time was gone and my opportunity to make this right was over.

So I began to pray. I made a deal with God that if he would let my son live, I would make this right. I would know the salvation of my children and I would also help other parents to realize that we aren’t guaranteed tomorrow and that one day they could also be standing over their child’s body wondering if they would meet them in heaven again. Maybe this happened to me so I could help you!

See, I was wrong. I did what so many of you are doing thinking it was enough. Teaching your children to be kind and giving is not enough. There is only one way to heaven and that is to be saved. The Bible says so…and do you know how I know the Bible is still true and relevant today?
See the picture?

This photo is the day that my son woke up from a coma that he had been in for 5 weeks. Doctors did everything that they could to save his life but he was not waking up. Every day I would sit by his bed, I would read him scripture, cards that people would send and I would tell him about all the things we would do once he woke up. One day an elder from a church came by and asked if he could pray with us. He grabbed some holy oil out of his pocket and put a little dab of it behind my sons ear. He said this prayer in part “God I know you can heal his whole body as easy as you can one toe”. The gentleman gave me a hug and left the room.

When I looked back over at Tyler he opened his eyes for the first time and watched me walk across the room!

Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.James 5:14-15

I ask you, do you think this was a mere coincidence? I certainly don’t.
The past two years have been a journey and we are still working on full recovery. Tyler is still in a wheelchair but we are believing that God isn’t finished with us yet! The most incredible testimony is from Tyler himself. He says that although he has some deficits, he is happier than he’s ever been! He says that before his accident he felt sad and depressed but that now he realizes when you have Jesus in your life you are never alone!

I wondered how I would feel on the anniversary of such a painful day. But I woke up feeling energized and happy and blessed!

In honor of our healing, I asked that you share this post as much as possible in hopes that it reaches a person in need of this message today.
Through Christ, all things are possible.

There’s a couple of things that stand out to me from this story.

First… This mother never  blamed God for the accident. There was no self pity… She didn’t ask why was this happening to me.

Second… This Mother took responsibility for her son’s salvation.  That is, not teaching and telling her son about God and His salvation.

Third…  She took action. She didn’t give up. First she prayed. Then  everyday she read the Bible and shared her faith with him even though he was in a coma.  She prayed with others for him.

In summery She demonstrated her relationship with God to her son. So here’s my question to you… How’s your relationship with God?  Good? Bad?  Maybe you never had a real relationship with God. Or maybe your relationship is not as good as it first was.

Now is the time to get a good relationship with God.  Time is short.  Just like this young man… We are all standing on the edge of eternity.  None of us are promised another day.  So please don’t put this off!  There is no better time than the present to start or maybe renew your relationship with God. Take a moment now and dedicate yourself to Christ Our Savior.

Please… if you don’t know Christ or have fallen away please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose again. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Please remember this… To teach your Children about God, starts with your own relationship with him.

I pray that God will truly Help and Bless you.
