Troubles….

Magnificent Promises

This week I would like to take a look at the trouble we find ourselves in as we live our everyday life. Most of you have heard of Murphy’s Law… That basically says, “If it can go wrong, it will.” We sure don’t have to hunt for trouble.  It has no problem finding its way into our life.

Trouble comes in many forms such as a family crisis, troubles with money and work, maybe health or sin, just to mention a few. What defines us is how we deal with these troubles or problems.

People handle their troubles in many different ways. Some tackle the problems and find a solution. Some ignore them, hoping they will go away. Some turn to other things, such as alcohol or drugs etc. to make them forget about the problems. These are only a temporary solution. Some pray and turn them over to God. There are many ways to handle troubles… How do you handle your troubles?

I was studying Revelation 16 this week, about the final judgments being poured out on the earth and its people. It was interesting to see how the people will handle these troubles. Some of these bowl judgments include painful sores, water turning to blood, sun burning people, and complete darkness. Let’s take a look at how they handle these troubles. Rev 16:9 reads, “And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.”

It dawned on me how stubborn we are and how patient God is. The last part of the verse tells us they blasphemed or cursed the name of God. Think about that… The One who has the power to stop these plagues, they cursed. The verse goes on to say they repented not. God, being patient, at the last and final moments, still wanted the people to repent and turn to Him but they did the opposite, by Cursing Him. Remember God is patient, and His judgments are just.

We will all have troubles in our life. Jesus told us in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” You WILL always have tribulations or troubles! The good news is that even during the time of trouble, Jesus will give us peace.

God has promised to help us through our troubles not to eliminate them. Psalm 50:15 says, “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” How do we turn it over to God? In Philippians 4:6-7 will find an answer, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

How are you going to handle your troubles? Are you going to curse God for letting this happen to you? Ever ask the question “Why Me God”. Or are you going to turn to God for His help?

God’s help starts with a relationship with Him. Do you have a relationship with Him? If you never had a relationship, or maybe you had one and it’s slowly faded away over the years. Now’s the time to get a relationship or renew your relationship with God.  Remember the next breath you take may be your last one. None of us is guaranteed another second on this earth.

Please just take a moment now, dedicate yourself to Christ Our Savior. All you need to do is ask the Lord to come into your life. Please… if you don’t know Christ or have fallen away, please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose again. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
