Lord Where are You?

Magnificent Promises

This inspirational Christian Story was sent to me by a friend. I think we can all put ourselves in this situation.  I know little about this story or if it’s true or not, but wanted to share it with you.  Enjoy “Lord Where are You?” author unknown.

Lord Where are You?

It was a little after twelve in the afternoon on a Sunday at my father-in-law’s, it was his birthday, and he was busy cooking up his self-proclaimed famous brisket. My wife was inside finishing up the potato salad while I was occupied helping my uncle with the TV.  The food was about ready so all of the kids rushed outside with their grandma and grandpa.

Now let me just say, we are the type to never let our children out of our eyesight and at the risk of causing more pain, what happened, happened. I’ve always heard of horrific accidents in other families but NEVER would I have thought it could happen to us.

While working on my uncles TV the door comes flying open, Noah’s grandmother was hysterically crying saying, “Noah fell in the pond!”  My heart was in my throat as I barreled around the corner. Everything felt as though it was in slow motion. I screamed for my baby boy “Noah, Noah!”

While rounding the corner, I notice a crowd of people knelt down surrounding him. My boy was lifeless and grey; I watched as his little body bounced on the dirt as my father-in-law pressed on his tiny bare chest. To give credit to my wife, I learned later that she was able to evacuate the water from his lungs and get a pulse before I saw him, but chest compression had to continue because he wasn’t breathing on his own.

I have seen miracles and did not doubt the power of God, but I have to be honest, until that day I had never physically felt the presence of God, at least not enough to know for sure. I had spent a good part of two years crying out to God, “Lord, where are you?”

As a boy I was rejected by my own Father, so I figured that this was no different, I wasn’t sure I would ever get an answer.

I collapsed down in front of the scene. At first, I had the most natural reaction, a denial of impending doom for my son.

Suddenly, an indescribable peace came over me, now I can’t tell you why I did what I did, but these words poured from my lips,

“Thank you, God for giving him back to us!”

I was claiming victory! But at the same time, my earthly self-was asking, “What are you saying, he’s dead and your thanking God?”

Once More, “Thank you God for breathing your breath of life into him in Jesus name!”

It was at that moment Noah gasped for air. It was if God was showing me, “do you see, I’ve been here this whole time?”

Never again will I accept that God has rejected a personal relationship with me. Through the entirety of Noah’s recovery, God has given us an overwhelming peace. After the first day, doctors were unsure of any brain damage. Through the next few nights, it was a combination of rebuking the devil of his lies that Noah wouldn’t be the same and praising God for his continued victory. By the third day, Noah was back to his old smiling self, full of energy.

In the story above, we can see how fast our world can be turn upside down.  I wonder how many of us would turn to God for help and thank Him when we see a loved one dyeing?  Or How many of us would cruse and blame God for allowing this tragedy to happen?

Similarly, some 2000 years ago, God stood by and watched his Son, Jesus, slowly and painfully die hanging on a cross.  God had the power to stop it, but didn’t.  Can you imagine watching your son die that way!  After His Son died and was buried, Jesus defeated death by rising from the grave 3 days later.

The Bible tells us  in Hebrews 9:27, “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment…”  We will all die, but life doesn’t end there.  Life as we know it now will be over, but our spirit will live on in a new body.  But look at the second part of that verse says “then judgement.”

After death everyone will stand in front of God and be judge on how we lived our life.  If we have even one sin no matter how big or small we think it is, we will be condemned to a second death. In the book of Revelation 20:14-15 says,And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.  And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” Everyone has sinned! Think about it… Ever tell a white lie or how about violated a traffic law? Romans 3:23 tell us, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”

But the good news is God has given us a way to avoid spending eternity in hell.  God sent His Son, Jesus, to die for us on the cross and be the perfect sacrifice to save us from this second death and to live with Him in eternal paradise.

No one knows when we will take our last breath, as none of us are promised another day.  We are making our choices now that will determine where we will spend eternity.

This is the question:  Are you ready to stand in front of God for judgment? Do you have any doubts? Now the time to fix your relationship with God.

Please… if you don’t know Christ or have fallen away please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose again. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
