Going to Church…

It was so nice to see a full house at church this Easter Sunday. Since the Covid pandemic most church attendance has drastically fallen off. I guess the reason is… It’s more convenient to stay home and watch on the internet or TV.

After all, we can worship God anywhere and at any time. We don’t have to go to church to worship. Well, I would have to agree with that. But there is a much deeper experience in church than at home.  Think of watching a fireplace on your computer or TV.  Yes, you see it, but you don’t experience it. When you experience the fireplace in person, you feel the heat, hear the sounds, and even smell the smoke. Likewise, if you want to experience God, in church is one of the best places to do so.

I came across this article on the internet and would like to pass it on. The author is unknown.

Why go to Church?

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday.

He wrote: “I’ve gone for 30 years now, and in that time, I have heard something like 3,000 sermons, but for the life of me, I can’t remember a single one of them. So, I think I’m wasting my time, the preachers are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all”.

This started a real controversy in the “Letters to the Editor” column.
Much to the delight of the editor, it went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:

“I’ve been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals.

But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today.
Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!”

When you are DOWN to nothing, God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible & receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical and our spiritual nourishment!

In closing, it may be inconvenient for us to get up on Sunday morning, Get dressed, get the family ready, and drive to church. Satan will give you hundreds of reasons to stay at home.

Think about what our Lord has done for us. Jesus took our beatings and went to the cross and died for our sins. If we find going to church an inconvenience, then maybe we should reevaluate our relationship with God. We are on this earth to serve and do God’s will.

Remember this verse from Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!

My question to you is… How’s your relationship with God? Do you need to improve that relationship? Today is a great day to do that. This may be the last day on earth for you. Remember, everyone who died yesterday had plans for today. They thought they had more time.  Please don’t put this off any longer… you may never have another chance. Please today… remake your commitment and rededicate yourself to our Lord.

Please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and arose from the grave. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” and in Romans 10:9 tells us, ”that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

I pray that God will Bless and Keep!!!
