Death is Coming…

It’s been said there are only two things in life we can be sure of… Taxes and Death. We really don’t have any control over either one. The government tells us how much tax to pay and when to pay it. And as for death… We know it’s coming but we don’t know when or how it will happen.

So today, Let’s take a look at one of these… death. Again, we all know that one day death is coming for each of us. Are you prepared for that day? Most of us are really not prepared to die. I guess for most of us, we are trying not to avoid the fact we are going to die. You know, out of sight… out of mind, but that doesn’t change the fact.

If God told you to get your life in order because death would be here in a few weeks, what would you do? I think there would be some that would not believe the warning and continue life as normal. Others, may prepare by purchasing life insurance, making a will, pre-planning the funeral and saying goodbye to family and friends. Still others might try to do everything on their bucket list.

Then there are those who would pray and try to make everything right with God. God hears the prayers of repentance from a sinner if they are sincere. If their prayer is for selfish reasons, that is to protect them self from going to hell, they might be in trouble. But if it’s a sincere prayer asking for forgiveness, God will hear and answer.

The bible gives us a good example of this. When Christ was crucified on the cross between two thieves, both wanted to live but only one ask for forgiveness.  In Luke 23:39-43 says, “Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.” But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?  And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”  These two men had two different attitudes. One had a selfish attitude just wanting to be saved. The other had a sincere attitude asking for forgiveness.

So, here’s my question to you… Are you really prepared to die? Which of the two thieves on the cross represent you?  Death is not the end to life. Death is merely a transition from this life to an eternal life. You may have prepared to leave this life, but are you prepared for the next life and your forever home?

Everyone will have eternal life. The choice to spend it in heaven or hell is yours alone. We will be judge on what we have done in this world. That is whether you have served God or Satan.

Hebrews 9:27 reads, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Just as sure as death there will be a judgment. Are you prepared for this judgement? In 2 Corinthians 5:10 says “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” We will be judged on what we have done on Earth! This judgement will be based upon the choices we make now.

In closing, what choices are you making now? Are you choosing a lifestyle the world or are you choosing to live for God? Remember my dear friend, these are real places… Heaven, a place in paradise and Hell, a place of torment and suffering. The choices we make today determine where we will spend eternity!

The choice is yours… If you’re unsure about where your spending eternity and want assurance. Please just take a moment right now and asked God into your heart and to forgive your sins. Acts 2:21 says “And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

All you need to do is ask the Lord to come into your life. Please… if you don’t know Christ or have fallen away, please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose again. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
