I can’t believe the fear the Coronavirus (COVID 19) have stirred up in people. Just the panic buying because of the news reports of COVID 19 is unbelievable. This buying and hording has created shortages of paper, food, and cleaning products. We need to calm down. Let’s take a look at some of the facts and figures.
As of Tuesday March 17th the CDC tells us there are 4,226 confirmed cases of COVID 19 virus in the United States. Also as of March 17th there have been 75 deaths from this virus in the U.S. This number is sure to rise as more people are tested. Also at this time the virus has been found in 49 States and the District of Columbia. The hot spots, with 500 to 1000 cases for this virus, are the states of Washington and New York. California is next with 200 to 500 cases. When we look at worldwide numbers, you will find the chances of dying from this virus is anywhere from less than 1% to 3%. Most scientists/Doctors think it has around a 1% fatality rate. This is a very contagious virus and it is spread by droplets of water. Usually from a cough or sneeze. These droplets of water can also be spread to the things we touch such as door handles. This virus can live outside a host for a few hours. It needs a way to enter our body. Usually by mouth, nose and eyes. Touching our face may spread the virus.
COVID 19 is a real threat and we do not need to take it lightly. We need to be smart about what we do, I can tell you that 100 rolls of toilet paper will not protect you from this disease. But I will also tell you washing your hands with soap and water and praying to God will help protect you. Yes let’s be smart about this.
One of our biggest enemies is fear. Satan uses fear to cause confusion. God gives Love and a sound mind. Found in 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
My friend, please know, what’s happening now is a sign of the end of the earth as we know it. In the Bible we find talk about pestilences. Pestilence is defined as a fatal epidemic disease. Matthew 24:7 says “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.” All of these signs are… or have already happened. Also found in Luke 21:11 “And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
My friend, you see the signs of the second coming of our lord. The signs of the end of the world as we know it. Instead of running out to the store to buy toilet paper, we need to be running into our churches and praying to God. We need to be opening the word of God, and reading the Bible. God is giving us a warning sign that the end is near and to be ready.
My question to you… Are you ready? There’s coming a day that every knee shall bow. A day when we will be standing in front of God. We will be accountable to God for what we have done in our lives. God will judge us and determine where you will spend eternity . This is what should scare you… Not running out of toilet paper. If you want to take this fear away, there is no better time than the present. It’s easy and it’s a free gift from God. All you have to do is ask Jesus to forgive your sins and come into your life. It’s just that simple, and It doesn’t cost a thing. In 1 John 1:9 it says “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
