Labels and Instructions…..

Magnificent Promises

As we all go through life, if your like me, you did some pretty stupid things.  I’m sure glad there wasn’t many video/phone cameras back when I was growing up.  I would have surely been on some of those video’s.  Today, I would like to talk about some of the warning labels we find.

Have you noticed some of the warning labels that we have on our products today? On a boys shirt the label says… “washed Inside Out – remove child before washing.” Has somebody tried to wash a shirt without removing the child?  Maybe so, because we find a warning label on washing machines that says, “do not put any persons in this washer.” The instructions for Vidal Sassoon blow dryer says…. “do not use while sleeping”! Then how about a label on a can of nuts that says “do not eat if allergic to nuts.” There’s a lot of instructions on how to use life’s products. Some seem a little stupid.

God has given instructions on how we should live our lives. In Exodus 20 verses 2-17 we find God’s instructions referred to as The 10 Commandments.

1.   You shall have no other Gods before me
2.   You shall not make for yourselves an idol
3.   You shall not misuse the name of the LORD  your God
4.   Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy
5.   Honor your father and your mother
6.   You shall not murder
7.   You shall not commit adultery
8.   You shall not steal
9.   You shall not give false testimony
10. You shall not covet

I think most of us have no problem keeping some of them. I don’t think there’s many of us going to commit murder, make a Idol, steal, or even committ adultery.

In Matthew 5:21- 22 Jesus tells us, “You have heard that the ancients were told, ‘You shall not commit murder’ and ‘Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing,’ shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.” So in this scripture we learn, If you hate in your heart or mind… you are guilty of murder.

In Matthew 22:27-28 Jesus tells us “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” If you lust in your heart or mind… you are guilty of adultery. We can go through all of God’s Commandments and if you break the law in you heart or mind… You are guilty.

This brings us to the point that we all have sinned! In Romans 3:23 it says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” It says ALL, not some but All have sinned. The Good News is that God still loves us. In John 3:16 we find “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for our sins and through him we can receive forgiveness.

In 1st John 8-9 Says, “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” If you haven’t asked Christ to forgive you of your sins… Will you take a moment right now and ask him for forgiveness. You might say, you don’t know the terrible things I have done. Let me get myself together and in a good place first. My Friend, please understand God wants you as you are. He will help you be what He wants you to be. Take the first step… and pray and ask for forgiveness.  May God Bless You.
