Lost Souls Matters.

Magnificent Promises

This week there will be a funeral for an innocent man that died being detained by police. His name is George Floyd. His death was a true tragedy and showed the abuse of police power. As a result of his death there have been many protests with a few turning into violence and riots.

What I would really like to speak about today is hatred. Today it seems like it’s the only thing that we hear on the news is about some form of hatred. We hear hatred about our President, police, work, government just to name a few. Let’s take a look at what’s going on at this moment and our society.

First – hatred against the police. Police have a history of treating people of color differently from white people. Racial profiling and mistreatment of minority’s and individuals has fueled this hatred.

Second – hatred of our government. Hatred for our government probably started as soon as it was formed some 200 years ago. People are not happy with the way things are done. This is not unique to the USA but happens in countries all over the world. When President Trump was elected some 3 years ago. Some forces I’ve tried to overturn our government add any cost… and are still working to do so.

Third – hatred for one another. As a society, We are hating each other more every year. This hate is being taught to us everyday by  TV Newscasts, social media, teachers and friends to name a few. We learn that we are underprivileged, disadvantaged and are treated unfairly due to our skin color, where we live, or our income level. Hate is now developing in us… if we let it. Today as I watch peaceful protesters I support them and their cause for change. Unfortunately there are a few people that let the hatred in them boil over causing destruction and riots.

Hate turns deadly against the police and store owners. A policeman sitting in his car was shot in the back of the head. Store owner trying to stop people from coming in to loot his store was dragged out and beaten to death. So far 6 police have been killed many more injured. This hatred and lawlessness is from Satan. Satan is the leader of hate and deception and Christ is the leader of love. Proverbs 10:12 says “Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.”

What is Christian Hate? Some hate, like the above, is obvious. Then there’s the hate that’s not quite as obvious. A couple of examples. Just the other day a dear Christian friend was telling me what he would do if someone was looting his store. He proceeded to tell me he would lie in wait and shoot to kill anyone that entered his store. I heard some others say… they would run over people protesting in a highway. I even heard a national televised TV preacher say that the police officers responsible should be put in prison and let the prisoners do justice. We read in John 13:41 “ A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.”

Is this your thinking? Do you agree? I have a real problem with this type of thinking. This type of thinking promotes hate. Remember that when you hate…. you are promoting Satan’s agenda.  You’re being manipulated by the devil.  We need to stop and think about this.
In 1 John 4:20 tells us “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?” My mother would always say “What do you think Jesus would do.” Do you think Jesus would shoot and kill somebody breaking into a business? Do you think Jesus would intentionally run someone over in a car or truck. Do you think Jesus would promote justice by letting the inmates in prison do it? These are the questions we need to ask ourselves.

I saw this on the internet the other day “Sin is the problem, not skin.” I will take that one step further and say hatred is the problem no matter what your skin color is.  Jesus commanded us to Love God first and then to Love each other.

We all know the Golden Rule… That’s to love one another as yourself.  In Galatians 5:14 we find this verse, “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, [even] in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself”   We really need to ask ourselves… Are we part of the problem? Do we have hatred in our hearts?  Do we need to repent and ask God for his help?  The return of Jesus Christ and the rapture is very close and we need to be prepared.

Now for the hard hitting final point.  How do you feel about the four officers responsible for Mr. Floyd’s death?  Do you want revenge?  Are you showing your Godly love for these men?  Have you forgiven them?  Think about it.  God can and will forgive them if they ask.  Forgiveness does not take away the punishment for their acts.

We all need to take a closer look at our heart and make sure that it is right with our savior. Are we following that great commandment to Love your neighbor as yourself?

So my question is… Does this sound like you? Has your love turned into dislike or hate? Do you get angry when you see the news clips?  The good news is… there’s an easy, simple way to get that love back. That is to ask Jesus Christ to renew and refresh your heart.  Turn any hate over to Jesus and ask  for His help. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Renewal and Salvation is only a prayer away.  It’s free, It’s easy and you don’t even need a credit card.  Just ask God to forgive and to come into your life.

Please remember this. It’s not Black or White lives that matter the most… It is the”Lost Souls Matters.” that’s most important.
