This week I would like to talk about Pride Month. What is Pride month and why it is celebrated? Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month (LGBT Pride Month) is celebrated annually in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for (LGBTQ) Americans. Usually on the last weekend of the month, The LGBTQ community celebrate with parades in major cities.
I came across a live news feed of LGBTQ pride parade promoting Pride month and their lifestyle. In the comments in this live feed were some people talking about God’s loves for the LGBTQ community. They were using the scriptures from the bible about God’s love and then twisting them to say their lifestyle was okay and approved by God. The truth is, God loves every one of us, but God hates any sinful lifestyle.
To understand this a little more, think of your son or daughter committing a gruesome murder. Even though they committed this murder your love for them is never ending. You hate what they have done, but you will always love them. God Loves in the same way… He loves you but hates a sinful lifestyle! Just like our parents, God will discipline those who disobey.
God’s word, the Bible, is very clear about the Sin of homosexuality. This is sin just like any other sin. And God hates all sin. In Leviticus 18:22 says – “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.” God call this an abomination and we find the penalty for this sin in Leviticus 20:13, “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.” Wow… punishment is the death penalty!
In the first chapter of Romans, Paul was describing the way the world has turned away from God and embraced idolatry and other sins. Romans 1:26-27 says, “For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.” In this verse we clearly see that homosexuality is wrong and sinful.
Remember this…. Sin separates us from God. And 1st Corinthians 6 verse 9 reads “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.” The key here is NOT to be deceived. Homosexuality is a sin and will always be a sin even through the world will legalize it and teach it’s okay. Don’t be deceived!!!
God loves all people and will forgive every sin. It is by the grace of God that we are forgiven. No matter what you’ve done in your past God’s grace is big enough to forgive you. All that’s necessary for you to do, is to ask God for forgiveness and accept His free gift.
In closing, none of us is guaranteed another hour on earth. Have you accepted His free gift and have a relationship with God? Maybe you never had a relationship with Jesus, or maybe your fellowship is not as good as it once was. There’s no better time than the present to get a relationship with God or to renew your relationship with Him. Remember, none of us is guaranteed another second on this earth.
Please just take a moment right now and dedicate yourself to Christ Our Savior. All you need to do is ask the Lord to come into your life. Please… if you don’t know Christ or have fallen away, please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose again. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
