Don’t you love the Spring Season???

What a beautiful time of the year this is. I was thinking about the beauty of spring and about all the seasons of the year. In Ecclesiastes chapter 3 talks about the seasons. Verse 1 reads, “To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” This week I want to take a look at some of the similarities of the our Seasons to the Christian Life.

Winter…. When we look at winter, it seems to us everything is dead. It seems like there is no life.  It’s brown and there is no growth or leaves and looks dead… But there is still life. And when I think about the winter season, I compare it to the time in our lives before we knew our savior Jesus. Time in our life spiritually that there was no growth and everything looks dead, but there was still a spiritual life inside that wanted to be awakened.

In Ephesians 5:14 tells us, “Therefore he says, wake up you who sleep, arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”

Spring… Then spring arrives and the plants and animals began to wake up. There is new growth on the trees and plants. The flowers start blooming. Even the animals start to be active and live again. There seems to be an abundance of life. Similarly before we gave our lives to Christ we looked to be dead spiritually. But when we awake and give our lives to God, the spring of our spiritual life awakens. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, tells us “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” When we follow Christ, new growth begins springing up in us spiritually. We then begin to show spiritual life.

Summer….. Spring gives way to Summer, we find the plants tender growth of spring grows and becomes stronger. The animals are more mature and look to reproduce their species.  God provides everything needed for growth.  So even when the storms come they are able to survive.  Likewise when we have been saved by the grace of God, we need to mature spiritually. Moving from spring to summer of our spiritual life.  God will provide us everything we need to grow and whether any storm in our life. We need to mature and become strong spiritually.  Ephesians 4:14-15 tells us, “that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head – Christ.” It’s now summer and time for us to grow up and become strong in Christ.

Fall….. Summer turns to fall. This is such a beautiful time of year. The new seedlings from Spring have now matured. The trees and plants are heavy with fruit and ready to be harvested. The weather is changing and the days are growing short. The animals have fattened up and prepared for winter. The plant growth slows down but hasn’t stopped as they prepared to go into another dormant stage of appearing to be dead. Like our spiritual life’s the fall is a beautiful time for us. We have matured and prepared ourselves for the next season of our life. We bare fruit and are ready for Harvest. Our outward body declines and goes dormant. Just like the trees we appear dead. But the beauty of our spiritual life shines brightly.  Jesus said in John 11:26, “And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” Our spirit lives and eventually our outer body will be resurrected when the lord comes back for his people.  In Daniel 12:2 we find this, “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.” Your Choice… Heaven or hell, we will all live somewhere forever.

In summary, this is a quick look at the seasons of a Christians spiritual life. It’s a completely different story for those who have not accepted Christ as their savior. Those who have not accepted him will live forever in shame and everlasting contempt.

So my question is this, What season is your spiritual life in? Are you in winter, spring, summer or fall? Are you ready for the Harvest?

We all are standing on the edge of eternity. None of us are promised another day. So please Don’t put this off! There is no better time than the present to accept the gift of salvation from God. Take a moment now and dedicate yourself to Christ Our Savior.

Please… if you don’t know Christ or have fallen away please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose again. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
