Twins

Magnificent Promises

The first time I heard this story was at a funeral many years ago.  I love its meaning.  I think we all are a little scared of the unknown.  Twins – A Parable is a great story that makes you think.  I hope you enjoy this Parable.

Twins – Author Unknown

Once upon a time, twin boys were conceived.

Weeks passed and the twins developed.  As their awareness grew,  they laughed for joy: “Isn’t it great that we were conceived? Isn’t it great to be alive? ”

Together the twins explored their worlds. When they found their mother’s cord that gave them life, they sang for joy! “How great our mother’s love is, that she shares her own life with us!”

As weeks stretched into months, the twins noticed how much each was changing.

“What does it mean?” one asked.

“It means our stay in this world is drawing to an end.” said the other.

Life After Birth
“But I don’t want to go,” one said to the other. “I want to stay here always. I’m comfortable and happy here.”

“We have no choice,” said the other. “But maybe there is life after birth.”

“But how can there be?” responded one. “We will shed our life cord and how can life be possible without it?  Besides, we have seen evidence that others were here before us, and none of them has returned to tell us there is life after birth.  No, this is the end.  Maybe there is no mother after all.”

“But there has to be,” protested the other. “How else did we get here?  How do we remain alive?”

“Have you ever seen our mother?” said one.

“Maybe she only lives in our minds. Maybe we made her up because the idea made us feel good.”

So the last days in the womb were filled with deep questioning and fear.

Finally, the moment of birth arrived. When the twins had passed from their world, they opened their eyes and cried for joy – for what they saw exceeded their fondest dreams.

That is birth… and that is death.

I think we all get comfortable with our surroundings or our world.  We heard and probably used the expression “He is in his own world.”  Just like the twins in this story was in their own world and didn’t want to change it.

As we live our life’s our world is changing whether you like it or not.  Ever so slowly for the most part.  But be assured change is happening.  So here’s my question to you… Are you ready for change?  The twins in the story did not want to be born.  It was the death to their world.  The had no choice.  After being born they found more happiness and joy than they could have ever thought.

My friend, Are you scared of death?  The transition from this world to the next can be a very scary prospect.  There is a way to help ease the anxiety.  In John 14:2-3 Jesus tells us “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”  As we die here we will be born into a new world! This will be more than we can imagine.

Now… Are you ready?  No one knows when we will leave this world.  No one plans to die.  We need to be ready.  How is your relationship with God? Is it good? Or maybe you have lost fellowship with Him or maybe never known a fellowship with God.

Time is short! We all are standing at the door to eternity. The only thing that matters is your relationship With Jesus.  There is no better time than the present to renew your faith.  Just take a moment now and dedicate yourself to Christ Our Savior.

All you need to do is ask the Lord to come into your life. Please… if you don’t know Christ or have fallen away please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose again. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him.  He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
