Why are these things happening to me?????

Why are these things happening to me?

If you’re like me, you’ve asked yourself from time to time why is this happening to me?  It seems like there’s times in our life that nothing goes right.  I’ve wondered why good things happen to bad people.

I want to tell you about a time of my life I was mad at God.  A few years back at the doctor’s office my wife was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. The doctor explained, with treatment she probably had 6 months to live at the most.  Just a year or so before that, we had bought a retirement home and we  were preparing to retire in about two years.  We had laid the best plans out but cancer would change everything.  According to the doctors, my wife would never live long enough to see retirement to our new home.  A couple of weeks after we receive the news, I became upset with God.  I was asking God why this is happening. This affected all the aspects of my life. My wife ask me what was wrong and why I Was treating her differently.  I didn’t realize that being upset about the cancer and with God for allowing it to happen, was affecting my relationship. A few weeks later, after I repented to God about being mad, I spoke with my wife about this. I apologize telling her I was mad at God for allowing this to happen.  Her response surprised me. She said I don’t have much time left to live and please don’t waste any of my time being mad. With that, our goal became to live until I retired which was over a year away.  My prayers to God became to let her live until I retired  and heal her if it was his will. The doctors kept telling me to retire earlier, if I can, she would never make it to retirement. Unfortunately due to healthcare insurance and the financial responsibility of cancer, I could not retire any earlier.  So I prayed and God answered prayer.  It was about 6 months after I retired that my wife passed away.  But here’s the take away…. Nothing happened until I was over being mad at God and ask for his forgiveness.  He extended her life about two years and She enjoyed her dream retirement for about 6 months .

Sometimes we look around and say why is this happening to me.  Are we praying for God’s will or for our will? God knows what’s best for us. What you think is best maybe in contradiction to what’s in God’s will.  In James 4:3 we find this You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.”

Jesus said in Matthew 21:22 22 And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” But when we ask we must believe. Also remember Matthew 17:20 If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.  If you need a mountain moved in your life you need to pray and ask God. So when things happen to you and you need help take it to the Lord in prayer.
