This week I would like to talk about a couple of things that God is doing in the world right now.
First – I know we have been praying for those who survived the earthquake in Turkey. Please keep praying as a couple aftershocks of 6.3 happened a few days ago. The death toll is over 40,000 people so far. Just a few days ago, they rescued a few more survivors from the rubble.
One of those survivors was a young girl about 5 years old. It’s amazing that this child without food or water was still alive after 12 days. She was trapped with very little room to move. When the rescuer asked, “what did you eat and drink?” This young child replied, “A Man dressed in all white came every day and gave me some food and water”. Wow… What an answer to our prayers for the survivors, God hears, and He answered. Caution: God at Work!!!
Maybe you have heard about the “Asbury Revival”. It started as an ordinary morning church service on Feb. 8 at Asbury University in Wilmore, Ky. According to Christianity Today, this past Wednesday was different. After the benediction, the gospel choir began to sing a final chorus – and then something began to happen that defies easy description.
Students did not leave. They were struck by what seemed to be a quiet but powerful sense of transcendence, and they did not want to go. They stayed and continued to worship. This nonstop 24 hour a day worship has lasted over three weeks.
In a recent Facebook post by Thomas White on Feb. 15, he shared photos and videos of students worshiping God. He wrote that “a large number of students gathered” together on campus for hours. During those hours, they prayed, read Scripture, shared testimonies, and worshiped Jesus.
Very quickly this became a standing room only event. Students had begun to arrive from other nearby universities. The students filled the chapel and then it spilled over into the surrounding ground to worship God. This “revival” has attracted people from all over the world, leaving long lines and a traffic jam to join in. It’s also gone viral online with 10’s of thousands of viewers.
Every night, students and others have stayed in the chapel to pray and worshipped through the night. As of Sunday evening (Feb 19th), the momentum shows no signs of slowing down.
I was thinking about the Super Bowl or the Grammys, so many people attend or watch on TV. They claim to be one of the biggest events of the year. Even Satan made an appearance at the Grammys. They last only a few hours and then are gone. I don’t think it was a life changing event. On the other hand, God put on His show at Asbury started 12 days, 6 hours and 45 minutes ago, as of this writing on Feb 20th. I believe that this event God has changed many lives forever. Praise the Lord. I have since heard of Revival’s breaking out at other places and college’s, such as Baylor and in London. Caution: God at Work!!!
God is showing Himself to us every day. The Holy Spirit is hard at work trying to keep each and every one of us from spending an eternity in hell. The picture (right) shows our young people praying and repenting at the alter 3 to 4 rolls deep. Truly the Spirit of God is moving.
In this picture (left) we see thousands of people getting saved and baptized in the Philippines. Surely the Holy Spirit is working around the world. Is this the final calling before the Rapture? Caution: God at Work!!!
These are just a few examples of what God is doing in this world right now.
In Closing, the time of Christ’s return is almost at hand. That means the time you have to ask God to forgive you is very, very short. If you miss His call, you may never have another chance. Remember this, God doesn’t send anyone to hell, That’s your CHOICE!!! If you haven’t chosen to follow God… You have chosen to follow Satan and spend eternity in hell. 1 John 3:8 says, “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.“
None of us are promised another day. So please don’t put this off! There is no better time than the present to start or maybe renew your relationship with God. Take a moment now and dedicate yourself to Christ Our Savior.
Please… if you don’t know Christ or have fallen away, please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose again. Tell God you are sorry for your sins and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
