Did you hear that?

It’s hard to believe that the month of February is almost gone. It seems like the year just started. Well, we at least have an extra day in February this year.

Today I would like to talk a little bit about listening. In our busy lives we often find ourselves so busy we don’t hear what is going on. I’ve heard it said many times that the warning signs were there, but they weren’t seen or heard. We often hear a strange noise while driving our car, but don’t pay any attention to it… that is until it becomes a problem. Even though it’s too late, the damage has been done, we take action.

The same thing can happen with our Christian lives. We are often so busy with our life that we sometimes don’t hear or pay attention to God. God speaks to us in many ways. He speaks to us through Prayer, Reading the Bible, Preaching and Teaching, advice from other Christians, and Meditation, just to name a few.

Today I would like to speak about one of these ways God speaks to us. I would like to talk a little about Biblical Meditation. How often do we meditate upon God? on God’s will?

What is Biblical Meditation? Biblical meditation involves purposeful thinking on wholesome topics, such as God’s qualities, God’s standards, and God’s creations and what God has done for you. Psalms 143:5 says, “I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; ”Remembering and thinking about all God has done.”

We can Pray, Read the Bible, Attend Church and still we don’t hear God speaking. I think we get so busy doing these things, making so much noise of our own, we don’t hear God. Maybe we don’t hear God because we are talking over him. That is trying to make our wants known to God and not waiting for His answer.  Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God;” The key takeaway here is to be still.” It’s sometimes very hard to be still.

Spiritual Meditation is simply a decluttering of worldly thoughts in your mind and thinking about all the good things God has done.  It’s a time where we can put all this world’s worries and cares that affects our thinking aside and think about God.  It’s a time to listen for God’s words and guidance.  In Isaiah 28:23 God tells us, “Give ear and hear my voice, Listen and hear my speech.”

Are we listening for God’s voice? Each morning, before I get out of bed, I take a few minutes and meditate and listen for God. I personally find this time works best for me because the morning is quiet, and the world hasn’t filled my brain with thoughts. It amazes me of all the ideas and thoughts that come to me. After this meditation, I pray and ask for God’s blessing and strength to get through the day.

My friend if it’s been a while since you’ve heard God’s voice, maybe it’s time to stop and listen. You may have been asking God for guidance and advice on something. But you haven’t stopped to hear His answer. So, my challenge to you… Take a moment this leap year and be quiet and meditate on our Lord. Get away from all the worldly distractions… then be still and listen for His voice. You might be surprised at what you hear.

If it’s been a while since you heard God speaking to you, maybe it’s time to look at your relationship with the Lord.  God communicates with all who love and serve Him. If you have lost this Communication with the Lord Jesus, there is no better time than right now to re-establish it. It’s easy and free. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Please my friend, take a moment now and pray to Jesus. He’s waiting for you!

Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and arose from the grave. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. Romans 10:9 tells us, ”that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

I pray that God will Bless and Keep!!!
