I’m want to talk a little bit about adoption. In today’s world, there is a lot of children that need homes. Our heart strings are often pulled when we see the homeless and starving children of 3rd World Nations. Even our superstars today are adopting children from other countries. It’s kind of an “in” thing to do for the Rich and Famous. But I would like to touch base on a different kind of an adoption. The adoption I’m talking about is the adoption into the family of God.
The adoption into the family of God is a spiritual adoption. When you ask for forgiveness you become adopted into the family of Christ. In Ephesians 1:5 says “He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.”
Have you ever thought about what spiritual adoption means? God has adopted us as his son or daughter. We are a member of God’s family. In Galatians 4:6-7 says, “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”
Think about the benefits of being a child of God. First – Your brother is Jesus. Matthew 12:50, – “For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” Second – We are an Heir to God. – Romans 16-17, “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” Third – Adopted forever – Have you ever heard of anyone being un-adopted? Yes life is tough and we may have our failures, But we have the promise that God will never leave us. Hebrews 13:5 – “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said,“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Have you been adopted? You are a part of a family… it’s either Satan’s Family or God’s Family. What inheritance will you choose? Heaven or Hell? My friend why not become a part of God’s family right now. It’s easy and free. Just ask Christ for forgiveness and to come into your heart. Romans 10:9 says, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Become a part of the Family of God today!
