Count your Blessings….

Magnificent Promises

After listening to the song “Count your Blessings” by Johnson Oatman,  I was thinking about all the blessings that God has given to me. Sometimes I think we take for granted all that God does for us everyday.  God truly gives us so many blessings each and every single day.  Some may even be so small that we might overlook them.  We need to stop and thank God continuously for what He does.  The chorus below

“Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.”

I think in today’s society, we are so busy that we forget to thank God.  Some of us may even expect or think of blessing as an entitlement from God.  We pray to God for health, material things, and to solve our problems.  We expect God to take care of all our needs, wants and desires.

I guess this all ties in with the “Me” generation of today. You know… what’s in it for me?  When it comes to God, a attitude of “give me” can prevail.  That is,  “God, Give me, Give me, Give me.”  Kind of sounds like our kids asking for a new toy.  When God doesn’t give you what you want we pout and get mad.  Again does this remind you of  how your kids act?

Here’s the truth… God doesn’t always give us what we desire, But he gives us what we need.  Just like our children, we don’t fulfill all their desires, but do what is best for the Child.  God does what is best for you!

We need to stop and count our many blessings.  You will be amazed when you see what God has done in your life.  Read the verses of the song “Count you Blessings” and think about what God has done for you.

Count you Blessings By Johnson Oatman

When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Refrain:
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by. (Refrain)

When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high. (Refrain)

So, amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end. (Refrain)

Have you been counting your blessings?  Thanking God for all the things He does.  If not, maybe you have never known God’s Blessings or have fallen away,   Please take time right now to make everything right with God.

Please Pray and tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose again. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

I pray that God will truly Help and Bless you. If you would like for me to pray with you, please email me at Bob.L@magnificentPromises.com.
