The month of June has been designated as Gay Pride Month. The last Sunday is Gay Pride Day. This day commemorates the Stonewall riots for gay rights. The symbol of gay pride is the rainbow. I’m amazed that a sign from God to not destroy the earth again by water is used by this organization. The rainbow doesn’t stand for Gay Pride… It’s stand for a promise from God!
The other day I came across a news feed of a live gay pride parade promoting the lifestyle. There were some comments in the feed about how God loves the LGBTQ people. They were using the scriptures about God’s love and twisting them to say this lifestyle was okay and approved by God. It is true that God loves us all, but God hates sin and a sinful lifestyle. To understand this a little more, think of your son or daughter committing a gruesome murder. Even though they committed this murder your love for them is never ending. You hate what they did but still love them. God Loves us in the same way… He loves you but hates a sinful lifestyle!
Do not be mistaken, the Bible is very clear about the sin of homosexuality. Homosexuality is sin… just like any other sin. Simply stated, God hates all sin. In Leviticus 18:22 says – “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.” and we find the penalty for this sin in Leviticus 20:13, “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their blood guiltiness is upon them.” Wow… the punishment is the death penalty!
In the first chapter of Romans, Paul was describing the way the world has turned away from God and embraced idolatry and other sins. Romans 1:26-27 says, “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” In this verse we clearly see that homosexuality is wrong and sinful. God’s word calls this an abomination.
Remember this…. Sin Separates us from God. And 1st Corinthians 6:9-10 reads, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
As Christians we should not condone this behavior. Our Churches cannot support or tolerate this if they follow the Bible. We can welcome the sinner but not the sin. Yes, God loves all people and will forgive every sin. It is by the grace of God that we are forgiving. No matter what you’ve done in your past God’s grace is big enough to forgive you. All that’s necessary for you to do, is to ask God for forgiveness. We are standing on the edge of eternity, as none of us are promised another day.
We are making choices now for where we will spend eternity. Here is my question to you: Do you have a relationship with Jesus? There’s no better time than the present to dedicate or maybe re-dedicate yourself to God.
Please… if you don’t know Christ or have fallen away, please take a moment and pray right now… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and arose from the grave. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” and Romans 10:9 tells us, ”that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;“
