Rich???

Magnificent Promises

Have you ever had that dream of winning the lottery? I think we’ve all dreamed about what we would do with a large amount of money.  It would be so nice not to have to worry about paying any bills or even being able to help out some of our friends and relatives.  But for most of us that’s just a dream.

Have you ever thought about what God wants for us?  Do you think that God wants you to be poor? Rich?  Do you think God wants to see you suffering and worrying about money?  Matthew 6:25-27 says, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?”  How true is the last line of that versus – Which of you by worrying can add one cubit or hour to his stature or life? God wants us to know that He will provide for our needs if we allow Him to do so.

I think a lot of us don’t really trust God to provide.  We put our nose to the grindstone and start chasing the mighty dollar.  But you might say to me… brother Bob, I have to support my family with food, housing and clothing. God didn’t say to stop supporting your family, He tells us to trust Him and stop worrying about it.  By trusting God He will provide a way to support you and your family.  Also in Matthew 6:31-32 tells us, “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For after all these things the Gentiles seek.  For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.   But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”  Here’s the key… Seek First the Kingdom of God.  We should never put anything  before God.  When it is more important to you than God, then It becomes your god.

This cartoon has a deep meaning.  No matter how successful you are by man’s standards, death becomes the great equalizer.   I’ve never seen a hearse with a U-Haul trailer behind it. Have you?

You can chase the dollar all of your life just to find that you can’t take it with you when we die.  In 1 Timothy 6:7-10  “For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either.  If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content.  But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction.  For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”  Notice what it says… “The Love of Money.” It’s not the money itself, but it’s the love of money is the root of all sorts of evil.  The love of money has become a god.

In closing today, Please remember to Trust God for all your needs. Anything you put before God will become a god to you.  Matthew 22:37, Jesus said to him, ”You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”

My question to you… Who or What is your God?  Maybe you have never known God.  Or maybe you replaced God with all the worries and cares of this world.  Matthew 16:26 says, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”

Does this sound like you?   It’s time to Stop the worry and to put things in order.  Time to trust God for all your needs.  There is no better time than now to give all your cares and worries to God.

Please… if you don’t know Christ or have fallen away please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose again. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

I pray that God will truly Help and Bless you.  Matthew 6:34, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
