It been said that there are only two things that are certain in life. “Death and taxes.” This week I would like to look at one of these subjects… Death. I think most of us try to avoid the subject. May we subconsciously think if we avoid it, somehow it will not happen… but “You’re going to die!”
But Death is an inevitable part of the human experience. Each day, thousands of people around the world take their final breath and depart from this life. The exact number of deaths per day varies depending on factors such as population size and demographics, but it is estimated that around 155,000 people die every day.
The cold hard fact is that we are going to die. Everyone and everything that’s living on this Earth will pass away. There’s a question that needs to be answered… Are you prepared to die? But you might say I’m young and I won’t die for a long time, or you may be a senior and closer to death than ever before. But one thing we can be sure of… We have no control of when we are going to leave this world. Also, we have no control over when our loved one will be taken away from us. My belief is there’s a time that has been set for our death and no matter what we do we cannot extend or shorten it. The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;“
The only thing we can do is change the quality of life until the time of our death. By this I mean if you abused alcohol, drugs, overeating, smoking, prostitution, and many more worldly things they can affect your quality of life. Just as on the other side of the spectrum worshiping God and doing His will also affects your quality of life. So, live your life with love and joy for God, family and friends.
As a Christian, a Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, an atheist or anyone else, you will have a life after you die. The good news is everyone will live forever… But here’s the catch, where and how you live your forever life is based upon what you do in this life.
When we die, we will face a judgment based on our earthly life. We will stand in front of God and give an accounting of how we lived life. This will determine where and how we will spend the rest of Eternity. Matthew 12:36-37 says “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
We were born into sin; and we all were condemned to suffer in hell. Romans 3:23 says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Not some of us, But ALL of us have sinned. Our merciful God has given us a way to avoid spending eternity in hell.
We are offered a choice of where to spend eternity. You can choose to follow the sin filled world of Satan or choose to follow God. Please listen… if you are not living for God, you are living for Satan. Being a disciple of Satan will bring agony and suffering in a place we refer to as hell for eternity. Being a disciple of God will bring everlasting peace and joy in a glorious place called Heaven. All we need to do is to accept God’s free gift of salvation.
My question Is this… Who are you living for? Are you living for God or are you living for Satan? Where are you going to spend eternity? Remember we are making the choice of where we are going to spend eternity today. You can change your life by asking Christ to come into your life! In John 3:36 it says, “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” NASB
Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and arose from the grave. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” and in Romans 10:9 tells us, ”that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;“
Remember this, those who died yesterday had plans for this morning. And those who died this morning had plans for tonight. Don’t take life for granted. In the blink of an eye, everything in your world can change. So, forgive often and love with all your heart. You may never get a chance Again.
