This week I would like to talk about Sunday Christians. So, what is a Sunday Christian? You will find the Sunday Christian in church every Sunday singing, tithing, praying, and supporting social functions. Please don’t take this wrong, there is nothing wrong with what they are doing. But they are missing one very important thing… A personal relationship with Jesus Christ. No matter what we do we cannot earn our way to heaven! We are saved by Grace!
Then Monday comes, the kids are sick, you’re late for work, the car won’t start, you forgot to charge the cell phone. It seems like everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. We’ve all been there and had those days, but it is how you react to it that matters. Is your reaction a worldly reaction or a Christian reaction? Did you use a few Choice words, or yell at the kids? How did you respond? Did you take it to the Lord in prayer. God wants to be involved in every part of your life and will help you with every aspect of it. I’m not saying that you won’t have trials and tribulations… But with God, He will enable you handle them all! All we have to do is ask!
Remember there is a judgement day coming where we will all stand in front of God. I’m afraid there will be a lot of Sunday Christians standing there that God will not know. It doesn’t matter how many times you went to church, or how much money you have given to the church or anything you have done for the church. You need a personal relationship with God. God knows your thoughts and what’s in your heart. You may be able to fool the person sitting next to you in church, but you will have no excuses when you stand in front of God on that judgement day.
Below are the words from our Lord found in Luke 13: 24 – 27
24 “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25 When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’ 26 then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ 27 But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’
Don’t be left outside the door, today start a personal relationship!
In closing let me ask, how’s your relationship with God? God Loves us and wants to have a relationship with us. He even sent His Son Jesus to die for us so we can have a relationship with Him. Jesus paid the price for our sins. It is through God’s grace and by our faith in His Son, we can enter into the kingdom of Heaven.
This may be your last day on earth so now is the time to get right with God. Maybe you have fallen away need to renew your friendship with God and get the peace you once had. Please take the time now and pray…tomorrow maybe too late.
Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and arose from the grave. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” and in Romans 10:9 tells us, ”that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;“
Please my friend, take a moment right now and pray to Jesus. He’s waiting for you!
