The Rain…

This week I would like to share a story send to me by a friend. This story “The Rain” was written by Norma K. Perrine.  I hope you enjoy.

The Rain – by Norma K. Perrine

It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout. We all stood there, under the awning, just inside the door of the Walmart…

We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day.

I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day.

Her little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in, ‘Mom let’s run through the rain,’ she said.

‘What?’ Mom asked.

‘Let’s run through the rain!’ She repeated.

‘No, honey. We’ll wait until it slows down a bit,’ was Mom’s replied.

This young child waited a minute and repeated: ‘Mom, let’s run through the rain.’

‘We’ll get soaked if we do,’ Mom said.

‘No, we won’t, Mom. That’s not what you said this morning,’ the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom’s arm.

‘This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?’

‘Don’t you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, ‘ If God can get us through this, He can get us through anything! ‘

The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldn’t hear anything but the rain. We all stood silently. No one left. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say.

Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child’s life. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.

‘Honey, you are absolutely right. Let’s run through the rain. If GOD lets us get wet, well maybe we just need washing,’ Mom said.

Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They got soaked.

They were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars. And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.

Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But they can’t take away your God. Remember God is with us ALWAYS…

Ecclesiastes 3:1 – To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

Author – Norma K. Perrine

Wow… what a great story.  There is a couple of things that I would like to point out. First of all, this mother while encouraging her husband with cancer, never realized her daughter was listening. We never know who is watching and listening to us. Without knowing it, she was teaching her daughter an example of God’s love.

The daughter was taught a lesson in trusting God. Luke 1:37 says, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” I love this mother’s response to “let’s run through the rain”. It was great. It wasn’t negative. She said, “If it’s God’s will… we won’t get wet, but it might be that God wants us to be washed.” Again, another teaching… it’s all about God’s will and not our own will.

In closing, we all need to be more like this child. The Bible tells us, “And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3. We need to have the faith, trust and believe of a child to enter the kingdom of Heaven.

So, here’s my question to you, do you have a child like faith? You might say I believe in God, but do you really trust Him? My friends it’s easy to get caught up in the world and start walking with the world.  Maybe… it’s time to get back to walking with the Lord.  There’s no better time than the present to get right with God.  In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”   Salvation is only a prayer away.  Just ask God to Forgive and to come into your life.

Please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and arose from the grave. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. Romans 10:9 tells us, ”that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;“

Let us always give God thanks for loaning us all the material possessions He gives us.

May God Bless you!
