God’s Time…

This week, let’s talk about the time we spend alone with God, which I like to call “God’s Time.” So, what is God’s Time? It’s any moment we dedicate to being with the Lord. This can include worshiping at church, morning or bedtime devotions, reading and studying the Bible, witnessing, praying, or even listening to and meditating on God’s words. Today, let’s take a closer look at devotion.

Devotions are described by Webster as “an act of prayer or private worship” or “a religious exercise or practice other than the regular corporate worship of a congregation.” Essentially, it’s the time you set aside to spend with God. In the New Testament, we often see Jesus practicing devotions. For example, Luke 5:16 says, “But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.” Even Jesus found it important to have devotions with God. Remember, prayer is simply a two-way conversation between you and God.

Do you begin your day with devotions to God? Starting your morning with the Lord can be a powerful way to set a positive tone for the day ahead. Morning devotion helps you focus and prepare for whatever comes your way. As Psalms 143:8 says, “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” While it doesn’t mean the day will be free of challenges, it does mean that God will guide and support you through them.

Another time that a lot of people have devotions is right before they go to bed. I think this is a great time to thank God for what He has done for you that day. I also thank him for just getting me through the day. In Proverbs 3:24 says “When you lie down, you will not be afraid, When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”  Spending time with God will always bring and give you peace.

Personal devotions should include talking with God through prayer and reading and studying the Bible. There are plenty of resources to support your devotions, both online and in print, such as devotional books or daily Bible verses.

In conclusion, I cannot stress enough the importance of spending time with the Lord each day. It might be hard to find the time at first, but once it becomes a habit, it feels like a natural part of your routine. Consider starting with a morning devotion, asking God for guidance through the day, and an evening devotion, thanking Him for His help. If you want to dedicate more time to God, that’s wonderful, but I suggest at least one devotional moment daily. Remember, the time we give to God is the only gift we can offer that He doesn’t already have.

How’s your connection with God? Maybe you’ve never had one, or perhaps you’ve drifted away and need to find your way back. None of us know how much time we have left in this world—today could be the last day for some. Now is the perfect moment to reconnect with God. Take a moment to pray today—tomorrow might be too late.

Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and arose from the grave. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” and in Romans 10:9 tells us, ”that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

God Bless!!!
