Alive In Christ…

The other day when I was looking at the menu in a restaurant, the server walked by with a tray of food for the next table. As she approached, I could see a little smoke coming off the tray she was holding. I could hear the sizzle of the meat and started to smell the aroma of the food. It smelled so good! All of my appetite senses were definitely aroused. I wanted what this other table was having.
I started to think about our Christian life and how desirable it looks to others. When someone looks at you… what do they think? Is it WOW… I want what they have. I want that sizzling steak or do they think… WOW… I don’t want any part of that slop… It’s not fit for the hogs.
Are you an attractive Christian? This attractiveness has nothing to do with our physical appearance. Think about how much money and time people spend to make them attractive on the outside (physically) when the inside needs as much work.
So how do we become an attractive Christian? The Bible speaks to this inner beauty, which is cultivated through our relationship with Jesus and our daily walk in faith. To be truly attractive as a Christian is to embody the qualities that Christ himself displayed—love, kindness, humility, and a servant’s heart.
The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Galatians, writes about the “fruit of the Spirit” as the virtues that should be evident in our lives: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23
Jesus himself gave us the greatest commandment in John 13:34, Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” This love is selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional. It’s a love that doesn’t seek its own but rejoices in the truth and bears all things. In 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says this, “Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not arrogant. It does not act disgracefully, it does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, does not keep an account of a wrong suffered, it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; it keeps every confidence, it believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” When we love others with the love of Christ, we naturally attract people, not to ourselves, but to the God who lives in us. This kind of love is rare in the world, and when people encounter it, they are drawn to its source.
To be attractive as a Christian is to be “alive in Christ.” Have you ever been to a church that feels more like a funeral service rather than a worship service? The people there resemble zombies… more than those living in Christ. I don’t know about you… But this is the last place I would want to be. It’s very unattractive to an unbeliever. Let’s get excited about our Lord and all the things He is doing for us. Our God has giving us a new life and a fresh start in Him. We are alive in Christ.
Paul, in his letter to the Colossians, emphasizes the new life we have in Christ: “Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.“(Colossians 3:1-3).
This new life is marked by a transformation from the old ways of living to a new way that reflects the glory of God. Being alive in Christ means that our lives are a testimony of His grace and power. It is this transformed life that attracts others, as they see the difference Christ has made in us.
In Closing, being attractive to others as a Christian isn’t about physical beauty or outward appearances, but about reflecting the beauty of Christ through our actions, words, and character. When we live a life that is rooted in Christ, filled with the Spirit, and marked by love, humility, and servanthood, we naturally draw others to us—and ultimately to Christ. The world is drawn to the light of Christ that shines through us, and as we remain alive in Him, we become living testimonies of His grace, love, and transformative power.
I think most of us would say we are glad to be alive. Every morning when I wake up, I thank God for giving me another day of life. We should be excited for everyday God Gives us.
Is your life attractive? Do others want the life you live? Are you glad to be alive and show it? We all need to openly show the happiness and joy our God brings to our life. We need to make it attractive to others, by doing so, they will want what we have… a relationship with God.
Final question… How attractive is your life? Maybe your life is not as attractive as it once was. Maybe you have never had a relationship with God. If not, please get a personal relationship with God today. Tomorrow may be too late.
Please… if you don’t know Christ or have fallen away, please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins on the cross and then raised Him from the dead. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” and in Romans 10:9 tells us. ”that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;“
