As we say goodbye to 2025 and step into 2026, it’s the perfect moment to pause and think about where we’ve been. Did the past year make us stronger or wear us down? What lessons did we learn along the way? How did those resolutions from last year turn out? Most importantly, how can we make 2026 our best year yet? Let’s explore these questions together.
Did the events of last year make us stronger or weaker? We’ve all been shaped by what we experienced, whether it was buying a new house or car, getting married, starting a new job, or welcoming a baby—some of the good moments. Then there were the hard ones: losing a loved one, losing a job, going through a divorce, experiencing an accident, or facing health challenges. For some, 2025 felt like a terrible year; for others, it was great. Romans 8:28 reminds us, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” It says *all* things, not just some, work together for good. As the saying goes, “Every cloud has a silver lining.” Bad things happen to everyone, but what matters is how we respond. The kind of year you have depends on your perspective—do you search for the silver lining, or do you focus on the gloom? Proverbs 17:22 says, “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.”
Being a Christian doesn’t mean life will be easy. In fact, the Devil didn’t bother me until I was saved. But the moment I accepted God and gave Him control of my life; the battle began. In John 16:33, Jesus says, “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation but take courage; I have overcome the world.” If 2025 was a rough year and you want 2026 to be better, don’t let Satan defeat you. Troubles and hard times will come, but the peace that comes from a relationship with Jesus can carry you through. Recognizing the battle with Satan is the first step to overcoming him.
Are you ready for the battle? Preparing starts with building a relationship and fellowship with God. If you don’t know Christ or have drifted away, take a moment to pray. Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose from the grave. Let Him know you’re sorry and want to live for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes, grant you everlasting life with Him, and place His Spirit deep in your heart. As 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
In closing, this is the time of year we make New Year’s resolutions to change our lives. Most focus on worldly goals like losing weight, finding a new job, or spending more time with family. But don’t forget your spiritual resolutions! Maybe it’s reading the Bible more, tithing, attending more services, daily devotions, or praying more. Let’s commit to making a resolution that transforms our spiritual life!
Let’s make 2026 the Best Year of Your Life. I pray that God will bless and keep you in the New Year.
