My Last Day…

This week I want to ask a thought-provoking question: “If today were your last day on earth, how would you spend your remaining time? What would you do? How would you live?” It’s a deep topic, and I want to explore some possible answers.

Would you celebrate and embrace all that life has to offer? Would you grieve and feel pity for yourself? Or perhaps you would kneel in prayer? The reality is, one day will be our last, and none of us knows when that day will arrive. James 4:14 reminds us, “Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are just a vapor that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away.

For many, the idea of life’s last day stirs up fear or regret. But for those who believe in Christ, it can bring both peace and a sense of urgency—peace in knowing our destination, and urgency in making the most of the time we have left.

If I knew today was my last day on earth, I’d start by praying. I’d humbly kneel before God, grateful for His grace, asking for forgiveness for every sin, whether intentional or not. I’d thank Him for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and for all the blessings, big or small, that I’ve received. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I would want my heart to be right with God, because nothing else truly matters in the end.

Next, I would truly repent — not just saying “I’m sorry,” but wholeheartedly turning to God. There’s no time to waste on excuses or games. Acts 3:19 says, “Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.” If this were my final sunrise, I would want to make sure that I was walking closely with my Savior.

I would say goodbye to my loved ones, not with sadness, but with love and faith. I’d tell them how much they mean to me and encourage them to live for Christ. I’d remind them that death isn’t the end — it’s just the beginning for those who believe. As Jesus promised in John 14:2-3, “In my Father’s house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you.

Would I cry? Probably. Not from fear, but because life is both precious and fleeting. I’d reflect on the memories, the people I’ve loved, and the moments I’ve fallen short. Yet, I’d also shed tears of joy, knowing that soon I’d see my Savior face to face. Revelation 21:4 promises, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain.

While some might spend their final moments partying, I’d choose a different kind of celebration — a spiritual one, filled with joy in the hope of eternal life. My last day would be a chance to inspire others, a living testament that faith in Jesus triumphs over death.

The truth is, we are living in the last days. The Bible warns us in 2 Timothy 3:1, “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.” Signs of Christ’s return seem evident everywhere—wars, earthquakes, false prophets, and hearts growing cold. The world may feel dark, but the light of Christ continues to shine for those who seek Him.

If today was your last day, make it count. Pray, repent, forgive, love, and share the gospel. Live every moment with purpose—because it truly matters. As Matthew 24:44 reminds us: “Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

Life is fragile, just a heartbeat away from eternity. Those who passed away yesterday had plans for today. We should live each day as if it’s our last, making every moment count and honoring God, because tomorrow is never guaranteed.

There’s no better time than now to start living as if it were your last day on earth. All you need is to take a moment to pray… Tell God you believe His Son, Jesus, paid for your sins and rose from the grave. Let Him know you’re sorry and want to live for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes, give you everlasting life with Him, and place His Spirit deep within your heart. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” and Romans 10:9 tells us, ”that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

May God Bless. Bob.
