On Tuesday, 11/11/25, we celebrate Veterans Day in this great country of ours. So, what is Veterans Day, and why do we celebrate it? Let’s take a closer look at the significance of Veterans Day.
Veterans Day honors everyone who has served the country in war or peace—whether alive or deceased—but it mainly focuses on thanking living veterans for their service and sacrifices. Initially called Armistice Day, it marked the end of World War I. After World War II and the Korean War, Congress, urged by veterans’ organizations, changed the name to Veterans Day on June 1, 1954, to honor all American veterans from every war.
Veterans Day is NOT the Same as Memorial Day.
Many Americans mix up Veterans Day and Memorial Day. Memorial Day is dedicated to honoring those who sacrificed their lives for our country, especially in battle or from battle-related injuries. Veterans Day, on the other hand, celebrates everyone who has served in the military, whether in war or peace, living or deceased.
Take a moment to thank a Veteran today for their service and the freedom we enjoy. These brave individuals were willing to risk their lives so that we could live freely.
There’s someone who wasn’t a Veteran but gave His life so you could be free and live forever—Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that all, not just some, but all have sinned. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 reveals the cost of sin: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Sin leads to eternal death, but God offers a way out. In 1 Peter 3:18, it says, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.” Jesus died for our sins, paying the price on the cross so we don’t have to. God gave His Son as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. This gift of eternal life with God is freely offered to us if we ask.
Have you considered accepting God’s free gift? How is your relationship with Him? Is it strong, or have you perhaps drifted away? Time is fleeting, and we are all on the edge of eternity. There’s no better moment than now to embrace God’s gift of eternal life or to rekindle your faith.
Please… if you don’t know Christ or have fallen away, please pray… Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose again. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” and Romans 10:9 tells us. ”That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved“
