The Best Thing Ever…

The best thing that ever happened to me!

Do you remember being a young child and wanting that one toy more than anything for your birthday or Christmas? Maybe you even said, “If I get this, I’ll never ask for anything else!” or “This is all I want.” But the next year came, and we wanted something new. As we grew older, our desires grew bigger—”I need a new car, I want a new home, I just need to win the lottery.” It would be nice, but for most of us, that will never happen.

Imagine this: you’ve just won a brand-new car, or your lottery numbers finally came through. The thrill rushes in, filling your heart until you can’t keep it to yourself. You’re bursting to share the news—what happened, how it felt, and just how lucky you feel.

As wonderful as those things are, there’s something far greater—something that can never be lost, stolen, or used up. The most incredible thing that has ever happened to me is receiving the greatest gift from God: His Son, Jesus Christ.

When I welcomed Jesus into my heart, everything shifted. The peace that I felt, the joy that filled my soul, and the love that surrounded me were beyond anything this world could offer. I understood that no amount of money, fame, or awards could match the priceless gift of salvation.

The Bible says, For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8). God’s gift isn’t something we work for or stumble upon by chance. It’s given freely, born from His deep love for us. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Just think about it: God gave His very best —His son Jesus — so we could have life, forgiveness, and eternal hope. It’s the greatest gift anyone could ever receive. When I truly realized that Jesus died for me, my heart was filled with gratitude and excitement, and I couldn’t keep it to myself.

When you win something incredible, you can’t help but tell everyone. You share the story, show your excitement, and celebrate the moment. In the same way, I can’t stop talking about Jesus and how He saved me. The Bible calls us to be witnesses, and Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

Romans 10:9 says, “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Salvation is both simple and powerful, not hidden or mysterious, but a gift meant to be shared with everyone.

Sure, winning a car or hitting the lottery would be thrilling, but nothing compares to knowing Jesus Christ. The greatest thing that’s ever happened to me is being saved and knowing my name is written in the Book of Life. Just like Luke 10:20 says, “Rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Have you accepted God’s greatest gift? It doesn’t matter how often you go to church, how much money you give, or the things you do—what truly matters is your relationship with Jesus. How is your relationship with God? Our time here is short, and we’re all standing at the doorway to eternity.

The Lord has blessed you with the greatest gift of all—eternal salvation. There’s no better moment than now to renew your faith, so take a moment to commit yourself to Christ, our Savior.

If you’ve never had a relationship with God, now is the perfect time to invite the Lord into your life. If you don’t know Christ or have drifted away, take a moment to pray. Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and rose again. Tell Him you’re sorry and ready to live for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes, grant you everlasting life with Him, and place His Spirit deep within your heart. As 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
