People often say there are only two things you can count on in life: death and taxes. This week, I’m focusing on death. It’s a topic many shy away from, maybe hoping that by not talking about it, we can somehow sidestep its certainty.
Death is an unavoidable part of life. Every day, thousands of people across the globe take their last breath and leave this world behind. While the daily death count varies depending on population and demographics, it’s estimated that about 155,000 people pass away each day. Death is not a possibility—it is an appointment. Regardless of age, wealth, or status, death comes to all.
Because death is unavoidable, it often becomes a source of fear and uncertainty. We wonder what lies beyond this life. Is death the end? Is there something more? The thought of leaving loved ones behind and confronting the unknown can feel overwhelming, filling our minds with questions about what comes next.
For the Christian, death brings hope. Jesus Christ spoke clearly about life beyond the grave. He said in John 11:25 “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” For those who believe in Jesus Christ, the afterlife brings hope and joy of living with our lord forever.
The Bible teaches that eternity is real—and that it is divided into two destinations. Jesus Himself warned us in Matthew 25:46 “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” We often describe this as either heaven or hell.
Jesus Christ came to conquer sin and death. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again on the third day. Because He lives, those who trust in Him can face death with confidence, not fear.
The fact is… we all will live forever. But the only variable is where that will be. We make that choice. We can choose either Heaven or Hell. We make that choice in this life. That choice is easy… you can believe in Jesus or not. If no choice is made, the default is an eternity of torment in the devel’s hell.
Facing death with biblical truth does not remove sorrow, but it replaces fear with hope. The question is not if we will die, but where we will spend eternity. Today is the day to consider that truth, trust Christ, and live with confidence—not only in death, but in life.
Make your choice today. Tell God you believe His Son Jesus paid for your sins and arose from the grave. Tell God you are sorry and want to start Living for Him. He will forgive your sins and mistakes and give you Everlasting Life with Him… and place His Spirit deep within your heart. In 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” and Romans 10:9 tells us ”that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;“
